Beyond bizarre.Īre there any signs anyone ACTUALLY got into your account? IE- weird devices, information/password changes etc? Nothing on my end. Neither showed any signs of actually being signed into and neither had any information or password changes.
#YAHOO VERIFICATION CODE NOT RECEIVED CODE#
I was wondering the same exact thing - what prompted the email to be sent out in the first place? Did someone successfully log-in (IE know my password) and need the code to complete the sign-in? Or was someone simply trying to recover my account without knowing the password? Two of my Yahoo accounts got the fishy email, both from different states. I am leaning toward it being a phishing email but I am not sure. It really should have a captcha, at the very least, to prevent this kind of crap. My secondary account hasn't received any.īut reports are that if you change your password, it doesn't stop these emails from coming, since the email can be trigger just by using that "trouble accessing your account" link and typing the email address in. Funny thing is, it's just one of my accounts with this issue. My response so far has been canned nonsense about keeping my account secure, etc. Maybe if we all collectively yell at Yahoo, they'll look into it (though it's doubtful).
Right now, they're just generating spam from that link. So even if they did have my email password (which is unique to the account), then they'd still have to try and access one of my linked emails to get that code. That said, I have 2FA on, and any time I try to log in with private browsing, it sends a code to one of my recovery emails and it's only four characters long, not eight like these.
How does sending a code to the email you can't access help you get access?
Like everyone else here, I'm not sure the purpose of them, nor even why they can be generated. I know this is a bit old, but I've been getting these for the past week or so now.
